Goal(s): Provide a closed data storage (archive) for digital heritage within the Netherlands, run by a non-profit organization.
Current state: Looking for investors
Backstory: As one of the digital heritage media readers/convertors, we found there’s no long term solution for keeping digital heritage archived. The only viable solutions (like Google or Microsoft) are for-profit companies and data is not stored within the Netherlands. As the HomeComputerMuseum, we have knowledge of keeping data storage safe and we like to provide a redundant archive solution (data storage) for Belgium and Dutch museums, archives and universities. In a later stage, consumers and businesses can also use this. Data is stored privately and no access given to others, unless explicitly stated. In a later stage, allowed data will be shared within the clients of the platform.
Costs: +/- € 500.000
Timeline
04/2025: Initial calculation of what is needed to provide 200TB of storage and support it for 8 years.
